In quietness and trust shall be your strength
Traveling Tails of Courage
Traveling Tails of Courage is a multi-functional program. The first element provides opportunities for volunteers to visit residents at nursing homes, Senior Centers, and hospitals. Some of the facilities permit volunteers to bring in their own, well mannered pets, to visit. Some permit visits by our shelter dogs. The unconditional love of a pet, and a caring word from the heart does wonders for patients who spend their days alone and without encouragement. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own dogs for visits after a short screening process, and with permission from the facilities. We can also recommend some places to visit on your own.
The second element is to benefit senior rescue dogs. Adopting a senior dog is not always possible. At our shelter we like to rescue one senior dog at a time so that one is always available for adoption or hospice care with our staff. Other times we get fosters to care for the senior dogs, or seniors who don’t want a dog long term but do want a dog and don’t otherwise have the resources to adopt and care for a senior. Tails of Courage will cover all the necessary medical and care costs, including food and supplies for a foster wanting to help a senior dog.
The third element is where we welcome volunteers from local Senior Centers to come and volunteer, or volunteer from the Center. We are currently coordinating new opportunities for Centers. If interested in learning more, please give us a call or send us an email.
If you are interested in participating please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 877-63-TAILS Ext. 703. We have only just begun, and if you have a particular place you would like to visit, please feel free to give suggestions.
